3 Year Water Safety for Legionella Control Contract To Orkney Islands Council Properties

2.2

Description of the goods or services required

The works comprises a 3 year Water Safety Contract to ensure the control of Legionella in hot and cold water systems in compliance with L8 ACOP.

The Council have already undertaken risk assessments, issued log books and implemented an in-house monitoring regime for occupied buildings. Contractors will be responsible for an annual risk assessment and audit of property log books, checking and reporting on the hot and cold water systems, providing refresher training to existing property responsible persons and full training to new property responsible persons. Un-occupied properties will only require an annual risk assessment, audit and checking and reporting on the hot and cold water systems.

The Contractor will also be required to carry out additional risk assessments and produce log books for new properties.

Total quantity or scope of tender

The works are to a variety of non-domestic property types within the Orkney Islands including schools, care homes, leisure and recreational buildings, administration buildings and public conveniences. The locations are on the Orkney Mainland and outlying Northern and Southern Isles.

There are approximately 90no. operational properties where there is a site responsible person undertaking monthly checks and 50no. un-occupied properties where only an annual risk assessment and report on system is required.

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

Please complete the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire attached to this notice and either return via the ePublic Contracts Scotland electronic postbox or via Development and Infrastructure, Orkney Islands Council, School Place, Kirkwall, Orkney, KW15 1NY.

The deadline for applications is 12 noon on Friday 16th May 2014.

Contractors must demonstrate experience of undertaking similar works in remote areas and must be a member of the Legionella Control Association
