Description of the contract
This contract is for A 3D inkjet printing system is required to enable the 3D modelling of components from CAD data in a range of materials. The system will be capable of accurately printing and curing/solidifying liquid polymers and other materials one layer at a time to generate a 3 dimensional component. The system should then be capable of depositing the liquids onto a platform in a controlled and automated manner. The distance between the build platform and the deposition head should be automatically controllable, and it should be able to lower the platform automatically between each deposition layer so as to allow the layer upon layer deposition of polymer to generate a 3D object. The machine will be used on a variety of industrial collaborative projects with SMEs in the West Midlands region therefore emphasis should be placed on flexibility of the machine and the potential for upgrades in the future. To increase the range of capabilities of the machine, the successful applicant to the tender must also carry out integration of a micro deposition pump system onto the 3D inkjet printer. The micro deposition pump and associated control software will be provided by the IIPSI project; the company must carry out: • Physical integration of the pump onto the inkjet printer • Integration of the pump’s control system/software with the inkjet control system/software to enable control of the movement of the pump in the same manner as the inkjet and also to allow the automatic control of the pumping action.
