Description of the contract

The Introduction of the Care Act 2014: The initial phase of the Care Act will place a new level of statutory duty on local authorities to provide citizens who have a need for care and support, with information and advice, including access to ‘independent financial advice’ and ‘regulated financial advice’. Gloucestershire County Council is seeking a provider with an understanding of the health and social care systems; how these operate within Gloucestershire and of the financial implications for those wishing to access care and support services. The provider will develop, promote and deliver front line information and advice related to care and support services. The service should provide tailored information and advice taking into account the implications for the individual, their family, friends and carers and, where relevant, identify those who may benefit from independent financial advice or information. In this context the council is now seeking to secure new provision. The contract will initially be for one year from April 2015 until March 2016 with one potential extension of up to 12 months.
