AIM:
Improving the standard of interviewing child victims and witnesses in legal proceedings and improve the standard of visually recorded interviews
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
•Define and explain the terms Vulnerable witness and Intimidated witness
•List and explain (in context) the Special measures available to vulnerable and intimidated witnesses
•Describe the strengths and weaknesses of different types of questions
•List four main phases of the visually recorded interview and the functions of each
•Demonstrate how to elicit and support a free narrative account
•Define the complementing roles and responsibilities of the social workers and police officers working together to achieve best evidence
•Demonstrate the ability to interview using the four-phased interview
•Improve the standard of interviewing child victims and witnesses in legal proceedings
