Description of the contract

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) is an independent UK organisation that was set up by the government in 2003 to protect the public from threats to their health from infectious diseases and environmental hazards. From 1 April 2013, the HPA becomes Public Health England. This will not change the aims of the HPA but will expand its scope. The HPA requires specialist technical services in relation to the occurrence of radon gas in UK buildings. Key deliverables include: – the provision of independent building construction expertise in relation to the prevention and reduction of indoor levels of natural radon gas in UK buildings; – the practical application of building regulations and the implications for radon; – the provision of guidance documents describing key solutions for remediation in both existing and new buildings.
