The work is to remove the colonisation of Stratiotes Aloides (Water soldier) from a pond located on the edge of a desirable residential housing estate set within a quality landscape fringed with mature trees.
The plant
Stratiotes Aloides is a submerged aquatic, which becomes buoyant during the spring and summer. At this time of year, the plants are submerged. Roots can be, but are not always attached to the bottom.
Timing
The work must be completed by 6th March 2015
Site Visits
It is advised to make a site visit prior to pricing for the purpose of establishing the most appropriate access area to the pond along with the short-term deposition area for the removed aquatic plants. The site is located within public open space and a suitable method statement will be required to protect the works whilst machinery is in operation.
