Description of the contract

English Heritage wishes to comission a project intended to form part of a wider long-term strategy to investigate the effects of piling on archaeological deposits. This project follows on from the volume Mitigation of Construction Impact on Archaeological Remains (Davis et al 2004) and the guidance note Piling and Archaeology (2007) and the research projects mentioned therein. The aim is to gather more data from a range of archaeological deposits to inform any future revision of English Heritage guidance on piling and preservation in situ of archaeological remains.
