Description of the goods or services required

The principal heritage aspirations of the project are to:

a)Restore a significant B-listed early 20th Century building as a Community Arts & Heritage Centre

b)Create a new Heritage Museum & Gallery space within the building

c)Unlock a wider heritage renaissance in the town centre by creating a Heritage Quarter, which reconnects the modern community with the town’s heritage.

The purpose of the tender is to appoint a heritage consultant to produce

A) A Heritage Activity Plan for a new gallery/museum space which will be located in the restored Kirkintilloch Town Hall; and

B) An Interpretation Plan for a new gallery/museum space which will be located in the restored Kirkintilloch Town Hall.

The venue will also deliver access to the arts and film for the community of Kirkintilloch and beyond, providing performance space, rehearsal areas, a screening room and the ability to accommodate an audience of up to 300 people. The museum/gallery space will be located on the upper floor balcony of the Town Hall.

The restored venue will make a significant contribution to Kirkintilloch Town Centre’s regeneration by breathing new life into Kirkintilloch, creating vibrancy and vitality and contributing towards an improved sense of place and a renewed identity for the town.
