In Bracknell Forest there are specific services and support given to Children who have or are currently going through the process of being diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Following the diagnoses of children aged 9 or over there is limited follow up support for children and their families.
The Service Provider will improve the life chances of these children. The Service Provider will also offer individual sessions for parents, Individual sessions for children, Support groups and programmes for parents similar to the early bird programme and support groups and programmes for child/ young people to understand their diagnosis.
The outcome of the service will be to provide parents, carers and children a good understanding of what autism is and how it affects families and individuals. The Service Provider will provide education for families on the support and services available to them. The Service Provider will allow children and parents an opportunity to openly discuss the diagnoses they have received and how this may impact on their life, ultimately ensuring that children diagnosed with ASD have the best opportunity to achieve their potential in life.
The Service Provider will provide a minimum of 8 hours per week availability for individual sessions at convenient times for working families and children attending schools.
A minimum of 4 support groups for children and young people running weekly for approximately 6 weeks per year will be provided. There should also be a minimum of 4 support groups for adults and parents running weekly for approximately 6 weeks per year.
The Council is inviting bids for delivering the service which fall within the region of £20K per annum.
The contract duration will be for a maximum of four years, covering an initial period of two plus the optional extensions, each of one year (i.e. 2 + 1 + 1 = 4 years)
Minimum requirements – Enhanced CRB, Agreement to LSCB Safeguarding protocol.
