Description of the goods or services required

Bangor University is pleased to invite you to tender for the hardware and software maintenance of the University’s core Cisco network equipment. The current Cisco maintenance contract expires on 27th August 2014. The contract tendered here is for the shorter of: a fixed term of three years; or to the date upon which the core network is replaced. The University does not anticipate replacing the core network until beyond the first year of this maintenance contract.

The equipment on contract forms the core network of the University. The University relies on its data network for application and file serving, networked applications, VoIP telephone system, Internet (JANET) access and video conferencing. Most of the equipment the University wishes to be supported is in the Bangor area. The principal services required are on-site hardware maintenance, software maintenance and limited technical support.

The University is seeking cost-effective solutions and will evaluate tenders as set-out in the tender evaluation criteria section.

A tender response from you will be expected to provide for the maintenance of the equipment listed below.

Tenders are being invited from current Cisco Gold Partners.

Total quantity or scope of tender

This maintenance contract shall be for the shorter of a fixed term of three years, or to the date upon which the core network is replaced. The University does not anticipate replacing the core network until beyond the first year of this maintenance contract.

The equipment on contract forms the core network of the University. Most of the equipment the University wishes to be supported is in the Bangor area.

The equipment to be maintained includes three 6509E layer three network switches and six other smaller devices.
