British Sign Language-based Video Relay Service

Description of the goods or services required

The Scottish Government requires a Contractor to provide a fully managed online Video Relay Interpreting Service (VRS). The purpose of the Service is to enable Scottish Deaf British Sign Language (BSL) users to access and interact with public sector bodies and third sector services. The Service will offer Scotland’s 6,500 BSL users the means to communicate, in real-time, with public services via video-call and a BSL/English interpreter.

Total quantity or scope of tender

A budget of £330,000 per annum (including VAT) has been approved for the contract, representing the maximum financial allocation available to Scottish Ministers. The contract period will be three years and may be extended by one further year.
