Bangor University Refurbishment of Music Department Contract

2.2

Description of the goods or services required

Refurbishment of the Music Department building located on College Road Bangor, including construction of a new main entrance and associated external works. The scheme involves a comprehensive internal refurbishment, upgrading thermal efficiency, window replacement, replacement of mechanical and electrical services installations, introduction of a three storey traditional passenger lift, construction of a new main entrance area with access ramp. Demolition of the annexe on completion of the refurbishment work.

BREEAM very good is a requirement and the project is being developed to BIM level 2. The design consultants engaged by the University to develop the scheme will be novated to the successful contractor.

The anticipated contract commencement date is September 2015 for completion by the end of June 2016.

Estimated contract value excluding value added tax is approximately £1.4M. Gross floor area approximately 1050m².

3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

Experience of contracting under Design & Build procurement.

Experience of refurbishment work of at least £1M to £2M (minimum) value on further education or similar buildings.

Experience of BREEAM projects.

The ability to deliver to a fixed time table to meet the University’s academic business needs is crucial.
