Description

Derbyshire Sport acting for Derbyshire County Council is seeking to appoint a consultant to review the sustainability and positioning of the Derbyshire Institute of Sport. The number of days to be agreed based on the proposal.

The review will consider and make recommendations on the following:

Positioning of DIS going forward. It is currently a programme that is delivered by Derbyshire Sport (an organisation hosted by Derbyshire County Council) and based at the University of Derby. This review needs to consider embedding it long term, within one organisation.

Longer term sustainability and funding options for the DIS. The main funding partners are Derbyshire County Council, Derby City Council and the University of Derby. Additional funding has also been secured through private investment. The review needs to determine feasibility of alternative funding options and produce a sound business model for the future sustainability of the programme

Future governance arrangements for DIS. The work of DIS is currently overseen by a Management Group comprised of the 3 funding partners and Derbyshire Sport.

Management capacity required for the programme to be delivered. It currently has a part time (3 day a week) Performance Manager, a part time (3 day a week) Programme Manager, a part time (2 day a week) business administrator and a number of associated coaches and practitioners.

Key findings and recommendations to be reported to the Management Group as appropriate. It is anticipated that interim findings and discussion will take place at the meeting on 24th February and final recommendations and implementation plan to be presented at the September meeting.

The successful consultant will need to demonstrate skills and experience in the following areas:

Several years’ experience of creating successful business models
Experience in budget management
Experience in project monitoring and reporting
Excellent communication skills
Excellent project management and IT skills
Experience of working in sport (preferable)
