West Berkshire Council acting as the Lead Authority for the Berkshire Community Equipment Service (BCES) Partnership is seeking interest from providers who could provide a Community Equipment Service to cover the population of Berkshire (estimated 909 200 by 2017).
The current service handles work to a value of approximately 12 000 000 GBP per annum. The anticipated gross value of the service for the initial contract period of 5 years is 60 000 000 GBP (12 000 000 GBP per annum) but it is anticipated that effective recycling of equipment by the Service Provider and BCES partners will result in a net spend of 30 000 000 GBP over the initial contract period.

II.2.4)Description of the procurement:
West Berkshire Council has a requirement for a pan-Berkshire Community Equipment Service (BCES), a critical service for social care and local health organisations supporting people to live at home. The service will support delivery of the Care Act 2014 outcomes through the supply of community equipment for long and short term care in the community; for the prevention of hospital admission and timely discharge of hospital admissions; support of rehabilitation and reablement patient pathways.
The service is commissioned under a S75 partnership agreement between the 6 Berkshire Unitary Authorities and the 7 Berkshire Clinical Commissioning Groups.
The anticipated contract will be for a period of 5 years with potential to extend thereafter for a further 2 years, commencing on 1.4.2017.
