Description of the goods or services requiredEach year Scottish Natural Heritage funds and coordinates a programme of conservation and land management advice for farmers and other land managers. This programme entails SNH operational staff’s work with land owners and occupiers as well as projects delivered by external agri-environment advisors on behalf of the agency. These initiatives aim to address a number of key environmental issues, e.g. the ecological condition of designated sites, land use-related diffuse pollution and conservation of farmland habitats in ‘the wider countryside’. The project will aim to review the potential achievements and failures of the programme and to provide recommendations for future advisory activities. This work will include a survey of land managers involved in the programme as well as interviews with SNH staff and external consultants.
