Description of the goods or services requiredThe Contract involves the construction of an addition approach lane to the traffic lights from the town centre and changing a one- way section of Glaisnock Street to two-way. The works involve planing and overlay to existing carriageway, construction of footway buildouts, excavation with carriageway and footway construction. Installation of New traffic signals and removal of old. Associated drainage, signing and lining works are also included. The addditional works, involving replacement of kerbing and footway paving, on Glaisnock Street, between Ayr Road and Greenholm Road may be taken up dependant on availability of finance. The main section of works, Townhead Street/Glaisnock Street/Ayr Road should commence on Monday 8th October 2012.This date has been entered into the Scottish Road Works register. The additional paving and kerbing works on Glaisnock Street, between Ayr Road and Greenholm Road should be programmed to start on Monday 4th February 2013. A three week period for this has been entered into the Scottish Road Works register. Note that permanent signalised three way junctions are located at both ends of the additional works. This should be allowed for in any proposed traffic management scheme. Additional InformationAll tenderers expressing an interest will be invited to tender. Expressions of Interest must be made via the Public Contracts Scotland website – this will be conducted as an eTender, therefore tender documents must be downloaded, completed and uploaded again via the Public Contracts Scotland website. Expressions of Interest and downloading of documents must be made by 12 noon on 7 September 2012 with tender submissions uploaded by 12 noon on 10 September 2012 – no late expressions of interest can be accepted. No late tender submissions can be accepted and tenderers must ensure they allow sufficient time to upload their submissions via the website in case there are any technical problems.
