The University of Manchester (UoM), wishes to appoint a Contractor to supply data centre space and the related services (power, cooling, connectivity, maintenance and physical security etc.) necessary to house and provide an operating environment for physical computing infrastructure subject to appropriate minimum and maximum separation requirements from two UoM locations.
It should be noted that the University of Manchester (UoM) are developing options in parallel to this Tender process to migrate from their current data centre as part of a wider strategic initiative. As such, this Tender is subject to UoM final approval in January/February 2015, at which point, if approved, this Tender will move forward with a view to moving to the new location during Summer 2015. Location within 10 km of two UoM locations and a Janet point of presence (PoP). This is to ensure connectivity is of an appropriate performance and latency; and budgetary restrictions imposed by configuration changes, if of a greater distance, as well as the need for staff site visits. Provision of resilient networks links to the locations to enable any potential data centre move to be completed before August 2015.
