Expressions of interest are being invited from suitably qualified and experienced main contractors to complete the design and to construct the proposed new Science Building at the University of Wolverhampton, City Campus (South), Wolverhampton.
The Project requires the part demolition, refurbishment and extension to the existing MB Building to construct a new science laboratory and teaching facility building for the School of Applied Sciences. The accommodation will briefly comprise general purpose teaching laboratory space, Containment level 2 research laboratory space and all associated supporting facilities.
The project is to be let on a JCT Design and Build Contract 2011 Edition. The objective is to provide a building of high architectural quality in keeping with the surrounding environment which will achieve as a minimum a BREEAM Very Good rating. The overall project duration will be 18 months and phased completion with phase 1 complete for use by the University in September 2014 and Phase 2 complete for use by the University in January 2015
It is not the intention of the University to novate the Design team to the successful contractor.
