Conwy County Borough Council (Conwy CBC) has secured funding under the Rural Development Plan (RDP) for Wales 2007-2013 to produce a suite of high quality innovative tourism websites, mobile websites, API and RSS feeds. The RDP is funded through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and is part financed by the EU and the Welsh Government.
Tourism is an important part of Conwy’s economy, supporting 10,820 full-time equivalent jobs directly or indirectly bringing £559m revenue to the County’s economy annually. This project aims to enhance the visitor experience and increase footfall to a variety of tourism business. This will create an opportunity to increase visitor numbers and benefit the local economy of the rural areas.
Conwy CBC wishes to appoint a suitably qualified supplier to project manage and deliver a high quality, engaging suite of award winning websites, mobile sites, API and RSS feeds. The suite of websites and mobile websites will appear to be independent of one another but will have at their core one data source. To encourage exploration of the wider tourism offer, the following key categories will be present in all sites Mountain Biking and bike routes, Walking, Eating out, Accommodation, Events, Attractions, Activities, travel, taxis, busses/trains and etc. The solution will also need to accommodate the generic tourism site (visitconwy.org.uk) and all its content will be required to be moved over to the new site. The production of the API will feed existing tourist information touch screens which are installed throughout the county (locations include Llandudno, Llanrwst, Betws-y-coed, Pentrefoelas and Dolwyddelan and will soon include additional units in Colwyn Bay, Llandudno Train station, Llyn Brenig).
The provider should have recent previous experience of delivering a European Funded project and working with groups and organisations in a language of their choice.
