Description of the contract

DigitalCity Business [DCB] is the business driver for DigitalCity: its mission is to create a successful, vibrant and sustainable digital and creative supercluster in the Tees Valley. One of DCB’s tasks within this overall remit is to deliver cluster development activities across, with a new special focus on satellite activity across Tees Valley and the North East. It would now like to invite quotes for the provision of an animateur function of the Barnard Castle NeST Satellite, which will involve extensive working in Barnard Castle. The contract is being offered as a delivery specialist with first hand experience of working with creative businesses. The contract length is up to the 31st March 2015 Barnard Castle and Durham Council have been working in partnership with DigitalCityBusiness since 2010, operating the NeST gallery and artists’ studios in Barnard Castle as a rural satellite of DigitalCity Business. In that time NeST has created 10 new jobs, supported over 40 creative businesses through membership, coaching & mentoring and workshops. During this time, more than 100 artists have showcased their work. DigitalCity Business and Durham Council are working together in partnership to support the digital and creative businesses of Barnard Castle. With this in mind this opportunity for a creative animation facilitator to co-ordinate and manage activity at NeST is being offered. The NeST building opened in 2010 in a converted car showroom. It has become a busy business and creative hub offering studio space, office hot-desking facilities, a gallery and café. Key activities will be – • Programming the gallery spaces at NeST, selecting and hanging work, drafting artists agreements, managing payments to artists. This may include other spaces managed by the NeST gallery • The contract shall ensure that activities expected during opening hour of the gallery and occasional evening events which are across 7 days a week. • Recruiting, briefing and managing the team of member artists who staff the gallery at NeST • Developing and running the NeST business membership services • Providing a link with DigitalCity Business, ensuring that members at NeST have access to the DigitalCity business support programme • Helping to organise creative business events, surgeries and workshops and to host events organised by partners • Providing regular written monitoring reports and evidence of engagement activities to the formats required by external funders and other stakeholders • Managing all forms of electronic communication including website and social media • Achieving quantitative KPIs including increasing sales/recruiting volunteers/building numbers on mailing list/communication targets including website management/weekly team meetings The total value of the contract [or if there are contracts, the total aggregated value] will not exceed £20,000.
