Description of the contract
We are looking to provide a series of Disclosure Training sessions for initially 100 people. The purpose of this is to facilitate good practice and improve successful prosecutions levels, corroborating the UKBA’s core objective of tackling serious immigration related crime. The disclosure officer training should equip UKBA Criminal Investigators to conduct investigations in compliance with the appropriate legislation (Criminal Procedures Investigations ct 1996). The training should ensure CIs can act as effective Disclosure Officers (as defined in CPIA) and that they are aware of what is relevant material obtained during an investigation and what should be revealed to the prosecutor. Improving disclosure techniques will assist the Agency in achieving its core objectives, as well as achieving the quality standards expected by the courts and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). All Crime Directorate Criminal Investigators should aim to achieve Professionalising Investigations Programme (PIP) level 2 accreditation (approved by David Wood, Director of CDG, and Dave Pennant, Head of Crime) so that Serious and Complex crime (Level 2) can be tackled. Disclosure Officer skills will be a fundamental requirement in allowing CIs to deal with Serious and Complex crime.
