II.1.5)Short description of the contract or purchase(s)

Cheshire East Borough Council (the Council) has taken the decision to deliver Waste, Fleet and Streetscape Services via a wholly owned company, ANSA Environmental Services Limited. From 1 Aril 2014 ANSA has taken responsibility for delivering the Council’s Waste Services.
ANSA has a contractual arrangement with an existing EfW Disposal Facility which has scheduled a six week shutdown period to run from 21.7.2014 to 31.8.2014. Consequently, ANSA require a waste disposal solution to cover this period and other unplanned periods whereby the EfW Disposal Facility is unavailable.
1. ANSA currently operate a fortnightly waste collection service which provides for residents to present their non-recyclable (Municipal Waste) in wheeled containers
2. Municipal Waste is collected in Refuse Collection Vehicles and deposited at a transfer facility within Cheshire East.
3. Municipal Waste is then bulked, stored and loaded on to HGV vehicles which will transport the waste to the Contractor’s disposal facility.
4. ANSA require an experienced provider to receive and arrange disposal of an initial 3 600 tonnes of Municipal Waste with an option of arranging the disposal of additional unforeseen Municipal Waste in accordance with the Contract and Specification.
