Description of the goods or services required

The contracting authority wish to appoint a consultant to undertake a desktop study of the economic impact the College makes to the local and regional economy. This work will support an OBC – currently being prepared – for a modern and appropriate estate at the Thurso campus as the College develops curriculum and sustains existing curriculum. The Thurso campus is the principal campus of the College and there are two locations within Thurso and one at nearby Halkirk.

Total quantity or scope of tender

4.2 The following deliverables will be sought from the project to be undertaken. There are to be three component features of the project. These are:

4.2.1 The College are looking to establish an assessment of the monetary contribution they make to the immediate Thurso area and where appropriate to the wider Caithness community based on the spending power of students and staff together with the ‘local’ supply chains to the College;

4.2.2 The project will deliver an outline of the linkages to local enterprises and business together with an assessment of the contribution each make to the other;

4.2.3 An assessment will be undertaken of the impact that the College’s research community delivers through seminars, events, profile and Knowledge exchange that is of direct benefit to both the local community and the wider region of Caithness.

4.3 It is anticipated that the key skills in this Study will be that of an economic consultant. The successful tenderer will require to identify a single point of contact within their team to manage and deliver this work for the College and to whom the College will have direct contact.

4.4 The successful tenderer shall undertake the services applicable to the role of lead consultant and will have overall responsibility for the project programme and delivery including advising the client as to inputs required from them during the delivery phase of the project.
