As part of the Welfare Reform Act 2012, the Government is transferring some aspects of the Discretionary Social Fund to Local Authorities to deliver in a way that meets local need from 1st April 2013. These aspects specifically relate to the delivery of the former Crisis Loan and Community Care Grant functions.  . A new nationally administered advance of benefit facility will replace Alignment Crisis Loans and Budgeting Loans and will continue to be delivered by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
