Provision of Employability Services – Work It Out

2.2

Description of the goods or services required

Proposals are invited for the Provision of Employability Services – Work It Out. This will take the form of “pre-employment” learning events and courses for people with little work experience or who have been out of the labour market for some time. The aim of these is to help people re-assess their skills and interest, strengths and learning requirements to better orientate themselves in the job market. People may need to re-build their confidence, develop basic skills and begin to “test out” overcoming practical barriers such as carer responsibilities, transport finance etc. The objectives of the courses will be to engage with people who are unemployed and who want assistance to:-

Consider their personal circumstances and employment options;

Provide opportunities to undertake skills self-assessment;

Increase confidence and self-awareness;

Provide information, advice and guidance about employment or training options;

Develop personal actions plans;

The anticipated outcomes from Work it Out! events will be improved –

Confidence and self-esteem;

Social skills;

Employability skills;

Numeracy;

Literacy.

In addition, they should provide participants with appropriate advice and guidance about their progression routes – e.g. sector skills academies, college course, and employment opportunities.

Further information on the Specification and requirements is provided within the draft Contract document.

The Contract Period shall be 4th January 2013 to 31st March 2014 with the provision of an extension option of a period of up to 24 months.
