The requirement is for one company to undertake the external audit of the financial statements for each of the City’s non local authority funds, namely; City’s Cash, City’s Cash Trusts, Bridge House Estates, Sundry Trusts and other accounts. The first year’s financial statements to be audited under this contract will be those relating to the financial year ending 31 March 2014.
City’s Cash is an amalgam of funds including endowments which have been built up over the centuries. It is an unincorporated fund which is not governed by any statutes or regulations. Until the financial year ended 31 March 2013, the City’s Cash financial statements have been prepared following the general format of the Statement of Recommended Practice Accounting and Reporting by Charities (Revised 2005) but with a number of exceptions. The auditor’s opinion has therefore confirmed that the financial statements have been properly prepared in accordance with the accounting policies stated in the notes. However, it is the City of London Corporation’s intention to prepare City’s Cash financial statements that are fully compliant with UK Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (UKGAAP) with effect from year ending 31 March 2014. Consequently, the auditor’s opinion on the financial statements relating to 2013/14 and subsequent years is expected to be on the basis of a true and fair view.
The other financial statements are prepared in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice Accounting and Reporting by Charities (Revised 2005)
