Description of the goods or services required

River Clyde Homes (“RCH”) is a Registered Social Landlord responsible for the management of some 6,400 homes. RCH has a diverse portfolio of social housing stock. This stock is distributed across the Inverclyde region, stretching from Inverkip through to Kilmacolm, including Gourock, Greenock and Port Glasgow.

RCH wishes to appoint the services of a competent and experienced legal firm/ firms to provide specialised legal advice as required on an ad-hoc basis. The contract shall enable the organisation to take informed decisions which seek to minimise legal risk.

Legal advice must be provided promptly (commensurate with the complexity of the particular query).

Scope of works:

Lot 1: General Commercial/ Social Housing Sector (or similar). Assisting RCH’s internal Legal Adviser on infrastructure and projects, corporate law, commercial contracts, construction law, property law, procurement law, information law, charity law, housing and regeneration, funding advice, governance advice, etc. (the foregoing is illustrative and not exclusive) but specifically EXCLUDING the field of employment law ).

Lot 2: Litigation & Right to Buy (RTB) conveyancing. Assisting RCH’s internal Legal Adviser with advice and representation for recovery of possession of heritable property / rent arrears. Also general debt recovery work in Greenock Sheriff Court and Right to Buy conveyancing. Firms should be advised that a fully qualified solicitor shall be required to undertake court appearances, not a trainee solicitor. Companies may tender for both, or just an individual lot.

Total quantity or scope of tender

The contract will run for an initial two year duration. RCH may decide, at it’s sole discretion, to extend any resultant agreement for a further 2, 12 month periods,subject to the agreement of the successful bidder.
