The council currently commissions 1 719 hours of care within five Extra Care schemes and this is projected to increase as clients with more complex needs are placed there and 2 new schemes open. Currently the council spends approximately 1 300 000 GBP per year on home care within Extra Care Sheltered Housing schemes.
Current provision of Extra Care Housing is focused on 5 buildings with 100 % nomination rights held by RBC. These 5 buildings provide 244 units in total. In addition 2 further schemes are in the process of being constructed and will form part of this estate. These sites under construction will be a mix of leasehold and rental properties. This tender covers 74 council nominated units in these schemes and any council funded care provided within the leasehold units.
The services are to be awarded as four separate lots with different start dates:
Lot 1 — 30.1.2017.
Lot 2 — 1.7.2017.
Lot 3 — 1.12.2016.
Lot 4 — Est. September 2018.
Each contract will run for an initial period of 4 years with the option of a 3 year extension period.
Invitations to Tender are expected to be issued in the week commencing 27 June.
