One of the team’s key sectors is Financial and Business Services. Invest in Fife offer a business location service, giving guidance and support to help companies decision to re-locate to Fife. The services can vary from providing detailed local information; help with local engagement site visits, liaising with other Fife Council departments and external organisations, and advice on financial assistance. Invest in Fife is looking to target the Financial and Business Services Industry but require a better understanding of the sector within Fife. By definition, the Council of Economic Advisers, the financial services industry consists of three broad pillars of activities: financial intermediation (banking), fund management and insurance and pension funding. However, we are also interested at looking at companies who currently support the sector by providing products specifically for those in Financial Services e.g. software companies, and contact centres. Database/Audiences To our knowledge, we know of a handful of companies within the Financial and Business Services sector within Fife. However, we do not believe this to be the full list. It is expected that the successful company would source the data. Objectives 1. A better understanding of the Financial and Business Services market within the UK - Who are the new players in the market? - Who is no longer operating in this market? - What are the companies’ requirements when looking to re-locate? - Which have new premises/relocated within the last 12 months? 2. To gain knowledge of the Financial and Business Services sector within Fife - A comprehensive list of companies - Size of industry - Size of companies (Number of employees, turnover) - Breakdown of job titles - Average Salaries by job title 3. To get a fuller picture of Fife’s skills and available training in the sector - Look at those who reside in Fife but commute to neighbouring regions to work in Financial and Business Services organisations. It’s important to capture their: a) City/Town of workplace b) Breakdown of job titles c) Average Salaries by job title - Obtain a comprehensive list of courses in Fife and neighbouring areas that are directly related to the industry. These courses can vary from Accountancy to Actuary 4. A SWOT analysis of each of Fife’s offerings (buildings or sites/areas) to this industry, including: - A more detailed analysis of the sites’ opportunities and recommendations on the type of operation suited to the site. - Details of the key selling points of the location(s) to present it as attractive opportunity. - Key performance indicators (as identified in Objective 2) and - Other evidence of future developments and events planned should be detailed to support the location. 5. Recommendations on how we can best complement Edinburgh City Region’s offering to the market to encourage joint working. Methodology I anticipate there will be a variety required and expect to be advised.
