Description of the contract

The Public Health Team are looking to contract, up to 31st March 2015, for specialist nutrition expertise to: • support both the Community and Probation Health Trainers Services; •provide a needs-led programme of support for key target groups of individuals that supports behaviour change through budgeting, shopping, food preparation and cooking skills; and • support for employers actively involved in the Well & Working Southampton project to achieve the Healthy Eating standards in the Charter up to the ‘Achievement’ level. It is increasingly difficult for individuals and families to make ends meet with budgets being stretched to the maximum. For some, food is one of the most elastic parts of a household budget and is often the one that is sacrificed to pay for other elements. Hence shopping and eating for maximum health on a budget is a key life skill in improving nutritional health and preventing/treating obesity. As a key setting for many adults, employers and businesses also have a key role in supporting healthy lifestyle choices that promote health and wellbeing. This work will involve supporting our most disadvantaged communities either directly or through working with other services and employers. Suppliers are invited to propose their own valuations for this project.
