About the buyer:
The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is an ambitious borough that, even in very challenging time, is prioritising support for business, jobs and the skills development of young people and adults. It is committed to using its Olympic Host (now Growth) Borough status to make progress on the ‘convergence’ agenda: by 2030 we want the borough’s employment rate, the average wage of those in employment and the rate of child poverty to be no different to the London averages.

The Council has an excellent track record in creating apprenticeship opportunities and has continued to invest in infrastructure including a new Technical Skills Academy focused on 16-19 year olds in Barking Town Centre. The Council retains a 14-19 Careers Advice Service as well as a job brokerage service delivering information, advice and guidance services to adults. The Council wishes to work up a partnership bid with a voluntary sector provider to help tackle youth unemployment within the borough.
