Subscription Benefits
Government suppliers normally succeed in securing business by a combination of methods: bidding for tenders and contracts, responding to Requests for Quotes, registering on Select and Approved Lists, and marketing directly to potential customers. Government Online Information Services provides a unified package of services by which all of these objectives can be achieved in a straightforward, uncomplicated manner. Subscribers then have access to a range of services that are known to generate public sector business.
Government
Online Tender Information Service
Both high and low level contracts are provided by email to a designated
contact. More than 600 information sources are utilised to ensure
that as many business opportunities are supplied as possible. No
complicated searching is involved. We will create a profile of your
company (which you are free to change at any time) and locate the
contracts that are relevant to your skillsets. Contracts are delivered
within 24-36 hours of publication. For more information see the
page dedicated to the Government
Online Tender Information Service.
Government
Online Database Service
The
current Government Online Database contains 35,253 contacts.
Databases can be supplied for Local, Regional and Central government,
the MOD, Police and Courts, the NHS and other sectors. Tailored
databases can be created from current information sources, and can
also be created by initiating a new update. A general breakdown
of the current database is provided on the pages dedicated to the
Government Online Database
Service. A more detailed breakdown can be provided on
request. The database is separated into different sections to ensure
ease of use for direct sales and marketing campaigns. It is a straightforward
matter to create mailing labels from the data. The formats in which
it is supplied include Access and Excel; Comma Separated Text, StarCalc
and other formats are also available. We also provide a free database
application for non-technical users, so anyone can utilise the data
for implementing effective sales and marketing campaigns.
Government
Online Registered Supplier Profile
Government
Online has many public sector users on both its Open and Secure
Site. Public sector employees subscribe to the Secure Site in order
to have free access to the complete database to aid benchmarking
and interagency communication. The Government Online Profile is
designed to meet the needs of its public sector users, by providing
detailed information on suppliers, their services, and their skillsets.
Registration as a Government Online Supplier is an excellent means
of raising market awareness among key government personnel. For
information on some of our public sector subscribers please visit
Government
Online Users.
Access
to Government Online Secure Site
The Government Online Secure Site contains a copy of the Government
Online Database, plus tailored databases designed to aid sales and
marketing to specific sectors of the government market (eg Chief
Executives). Multiple users can logon to the site and access the
data online. The list of Government Online Registered Suppliers
is also available via a drop-down menu facility.
Information
for Registering on Internal Procurement Systems
One
of the main objectives of most suppliers is to be registered on Approved
Lists or Select Lists operated within the government marketplace.
Registration vastly increases the supplier's chances of winning business.
The widespread introduction of electronic procurement throughout the
public sector - which has been mandated by Central Government itself
- opens up important opportunities for suppliers in registering on
Approved or Standing Lists. New and updated electronic procurement
systems are being utilised to issue tender advertisements, invitations
to tender, tender documents, invoices, payments, and also to maintain
the details of pre-qualified suppliers. We can provide extensive information
on registering on the internal procurement systems of public sector
organisations, which will undoubtedly enable most companies to achieve
one of the most important goals of working in the government marketplace.
The spending power of the organisations for which we possess the details
runs not into the millions but into the billions.
Creation
of 1 Nationwide Tailored Database
We can create 1 nationwide tailored database for all our clients.
We simply need to be informed of the specific decision-makers (with
responsibilities) that the supplier is targeting. If we already
possess the information, we will create a database out of current
data sources; if we do not then we will provide the data incrementally
on a region by region basis as we update the Government Online Database.
Contract
and Tender Guidance
We can supply extensive and authoritative information to subscribers
on almost all aspects of the contract and tender process - from
choosing to bid, to preparing the tender documents and drawing up
the Company Questionnaire, to post-contract award monitoring. Not
every supplier will want to bid for tenders; many choose to
pursue Requests for Quotes, one-off purchases and low level contracts,
which have much simpler procedures. But for the official tendering
process itself we can briefly outline a number of points to consider:
- Choosing
to bid (Requests for Quotes, low level contracts, or high level
tenders)
- Soft-market
pre-tender testing
- Preparation
of company templates for health and safety, insurance, equal opportunities
(race and gender), Human Rights Act compliance, Data Protection
Act policy, accounts or company projections, for new and established
companies, details of technical capacity, quality management,
referees, and management structure.
- Pricing
- Asking
questions
- Preparation
of documents (which will include data formats as well as structure,
appearance and identification)
- What
to include and exclude from tender documents
- Presentations
- The
tender process itself
- Complaints'
procedures
- Learning
from and developing experience
- Post-award
analysis
- Subcontracting
It's a structured sales process. Any professional company can sell to the public sector if it has a product or service the public sector wants to buy.
