Bristol City Council is looking for experienced Design and Build Contractors for the Ashton Vale to Temple Meads Bus Rapid Transit [BRT] and North Fringe to Hengrove [BRT] Projects. The projects consist of seven individual contracts. Bristol City Council will enter into individual contracts for the Guided Busway, Ashton Avenue Swing Bridge and Prince Street Bridge with either Bristol City Council or South Gloucestershire Council being the client for four remaining contracts; New Cut Bridge, M32 Works, Ham Brook Bridge and Church Lane Bridge.

II.2.1)Total quantity or scope:
Bristol City Council is looking for experienced Design and Build Contractors for the Ashton Vale to Temple Meads Bus Rapid Transit [BRT] and North Fringe to Hengrove [BRT] Projects. The projects consist of seven individual contracts. Bristol City Council will enter into individual contracts the Guided Busway, Ashton Avenue Swing Bridge and Prince Street Bridge with either Bristol City Council or South Gloucestershire Council being the client for four remaining contracts; New Cut Bridge, M32 Works, Ham Brook Bridge and Church Lane Bridge. The work will consist of design and build a new guided busway, alteration and construction of the highway, new bridge construction and repair and improvements to existing listed bridges. Each Design and Build Contractor will be responsible for putting together the team to deliver the individual contract and to act as part of a contract team, co-ordinating the design and construction elements of the project with the wider project construction, whilst liaising with Bristol City and South Gloucestershire Council officers throughout the project. The potential providers may express an interest in any number of individual contracts, including all seven contracts. All individual Design & Build contracts will contain a break clause between the design and construction stages (further details will be provided within the Invitation To Tender documents). Bristol City Council intends to send out the tenders for the Guided Busway, Ashton Avenue Swing Bridge and Prince Street Bridge late September 2012 and the other remaining tenders (New Cut Bridge, M32 Works, Ham Brook Bridge and Church Lane Bridge) early February 2013.

As a part of this contract a new bridge over the Portbury Freight Line at Ashton Gate will be constructed. Minor works and changes to parking restrictions so as to implement a new bus lane on Cumberland Road. The contract will include the design and construction work, ten-year defect period and optional ten year maintenance contract for the guided busway.
