The Provider will deliver a liaison service within Nottingham University Hospitals supporting hospital clinical staff to identify and respond appropriately to substance misusing patients on wards and in the Emergency Department (ED). The Provider will deliver brief and structured treatment to patients in Nottingham University Hospitals. The Provider will assertively engage those leaving hospital into community substance misuse services.
The service will deliver the following key elements within the setting of Nottingham University Hospitals:
— Identification of problematic substance misusers within Nottingham University Hospitals;
— Brief interventions and advice for substance misusers;
— Pharmacological interventions for substance misusers;
— Ensure continuity of substance misuse related care/treatment upon discharge from hospital;
— Training and up-skilling of hospital staff in relation identification and brief advice of substance misusers.
