Prior Indicative Notice – LBWF infrastructure services.
The London Borough of Waltham Forest (LBWF) is looking to re-provision most of the current ICT infrastructure services.
LBWF is situated in East London with a population of approximately 225 000 residents, 98 000 residential properties and 6 700 business properties.
The key requirements for future ICT provision are:
— To be in line with the Council’s new ICT strategy,
— To provide a future proof ICT provision that is flexible, fit for purpose and can act as an enabler for service transformation both within the Council and in conjunction with its partners (other London Boroughs and service providers),
— To enable and sustain real and embedded flexible working including from home, partner sites and on a mobile basis,
— To update and transform access to the Council’s applications and data,
— To align with and compliment the emerging accommodation strategy to consolidate office space,
— To maximise existing investment and achieve efficiency savings in the provision of the service both now and in the future.
The scope of infrastructure services currently under consideration includes:
— Hosting services split over 2 separate tier 3 data centres,
— Server hardware & virtualisation,
— Application virtualisation,
— Desktop virtualisation,
— Storage (SAN replacement and management tools).
It is proposed is to repackage, re-tender and transition to a new service model by end of 2013.
