Description of the RFQ

Research report commission –

‘Identifying and developing the potential market for Co-operative Housing in Wales’

The report will provide practical information for those involved in developing co-operative housing schemes in Wales about the market for co-operative housing in order to help them design, build and promote new co-operative housing schemes.

Proposed content of the research report

The research report should include:

• A summary of existing research that summarises public attitudes to co-operative housing

• Findings from primary research to be undertaken by the researcher within communities in Wales (including at least one urban area (Newport) and one rural area) to identify:

o How people perceive co-operative housing

o What they see as the barriers for themselves to becoming a co-operative housing member

o Those factors that would attract them to living in a co-operative housing scheme.

• A set of practical recommendations for those involved in developing and marketing co-operative housing schemes in Wales.

 

Audience for the research report

The report should be written for a non-specialist audience of housing co-operative members, as well as officers in local government, Welsh government, the housing sector and the co-operative sector. The language of the report should be appropriate for its identified audience.
