Warrington Borough Council
Independent Chair – Warrington Safeguarding Adults Board

Warrington Safeguarding Board (WSAB) is seeking to appoint a new independent chair. This presents an exciting leadership opportunity to help consolidate and strengthen local work to safeguard adults at risk of abuse and neglect; at a time when nationally the framework around adult safeguarding is being transformed.  WSAB is a well-established multi agency strategic body which oversees the safeguarding of adults at risk locally, with a strong culture of partnership working.

From April 2015, Safeguarding Adult Boards will be placed on a statutory footing within a significant reform of adult care and support services. The independent chair will bring the leadership and direction required to ensure that the SAB meets the new statutory requirements and that all partner agencies continue to collaborate effectively to promote the welfare and safeguarding of adults at risk in Warrington. A recent LGA peer review was positive about local safeguarding services, highlighting in particular the positive multi-agency arrangements.

This critical role requires independence, effective leadership, the ability to critically challenge and oversee the continuation and development of multi-agency practice to safeguard adults at risk. The successful candidate will be able to evidence effective vision and leadership at a strategic level and demonstrate high level communication and negotiation skills both with professionals and the public.

You will need to have extensive experience in chairing strategic partnerships, a successful record of work to promote the equality and rights of adults at risk and to be able to demonstrate the required passion and knowledge which this important role requires. With significant operational and management experience in a professional specialism, you will also hold a relevant qualification in Health/Social Care, Education, Criminal Justice or Legal.
