The London Borough of Bromley (“the Council”) is inviting tenders on behalf of Consortium Boroughs for the provision of an Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA) Service

The Mental Capacity Act 2005 makes it a legal requirement for people lacking mental capacity to have independent advocacy when there are no known relatives or close friends to speak for them. Advocacy must be provided when decisions are being made regarding serious medical treatment and a move to other accommodation, in specified circumstances. Local authorities are therefore required to commission independent mental capacity advocacy from independent organisations.
