Contract to provide an Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA) Service
Salford City Council and Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council are inviting established and experienced organisations to tender for the provision of an Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA) Service. The purpose of the IMCA Service is to provide a specialist independent advocacy service to people covered by the provisions of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, as amended by the Mental Health Act 2007 and within the guidelines set out in the Mental Capacity Act 2005 Code of Practice and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards supplement to the Code of Practice.
 
This Service will be for vulnerable people aged sixteen (16) years and above and will service the Salford and Bolton areas.
 
The Service will be available to people with a learning disability, mental health need, physical or sensory impairment, dementia, acquired brain injury, or similar conditions.
 
The combined population of the two areas is approximately 500,000

The contract will operate from 1st April 2013 and will be initially for a period of 3 years subject to available funding, and may be extended for a further period of 2 years subject to satisfactory performance, outcomes review and funding availability.
