Description of the contract

The project will explore families’ views about the care received. The precise issues will need to be agreed with the EHRC. We would like representation from all three settings, prisons, police and those detained under the Mental Health Act, if families are willing to share their experiences. The term ‘families’ includes partners. Families’ views must be recorded and transcribed, to allow for subsequent analysis, as well producing a summary report. The basis for seeking their views is that the information they provide, together with details about themselves, the people who have died and the institutions where the deaths occurred, will all be anonymous. The project would if possible, like to identify a small number of families whose details would be featured in the Inquiry report and associated publicity in the form of case studies. Such identification will only occur with the formal written consent of the families involved. For other families, the EHRC will not have access to their details and both the project report and subsequent Inquiry report will only refer to them anonymously. The full specification can be requested by e-mailing tenders@equalityhumanrights.com. Please quote ‘EHRC 016-1415’ when doing so. The submission deadline is 1pm Tuesday 29th July.
