Title

Internal Coaching and Mentoring Scheme – Development of our Coaches and Mentors

2.2

Description of the goods or services required

“The Care Inspectorate and SSSC are developing an internal coaching and mentoring scheme. The service will be run by the Care Inspectorate Employee Development Department. At this time the coaches and mentors will be internal staff and they will be providing these services to other internal staff with an identified need. We may provide reciprocal services to other NDPB and Government bodies in time.

The main requirements for this piece of work are:

1. To design and deliver a training programme for groups of the Care Inspectorate and SSSC staff which will equip them to be internal coaches and mentors. Staff currently have varying levels of coaching experience ranging from none to some.

2. The programme should ideally provide initial training of a quantity and quality that will enable participants to commence coaching to a good but developing standard. We are open to considering different approaches including several consecutive days of taught and practice based learning or combining this with a break in class based days for reflection and practice.

3. To design and deliver occasional recall days to look at advanced skills and approaches.

4. For the programme to set a threshold that demonstrates at least a good beginning competence in coaching and mentoring skills. We are open to this being part of a certification route or through agreeing our own threshold for competency along with the successful provider.

5. To provide professional supervision to the coaches and mentors for at least one year from commencement of the contract. This can include 1-1 and peer approaches.

6. To contribute advice to the policies and procedures developed by the Care Inspectorate and the SSSC for the scheme.

7. To contribute to designing an initial evaluation of the scheme.
