The University of Sheffield is out to for the following Structural Experimental equipment to be housed in our new Diamond Building.
The Light Structures Laboratory within the Diamond will be used by students from a wide range of disciplines across the Faculty of Engineering, including Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science. The purpose of the Laboratory is the translation of theoretical principles into real-life experiences, and vice versa, to promote both qualitative and quantitative understanding.
This tender will be divided into nine (9) Lots:
— Lot 1 — 10 x Cantilever frame experiment,
— Lot 2 — 10 x Chain (or Cable) suspension,
— Lot 3 — 10 x Arch,
— Lot 4 — 10 x Normal and shear stresses in beams,
— Lot 5 — 10 x Deflection of a beam,
— Lot 6 — 10 x Plastic hinge formation in a beam,
— Lot 7 — 10 x Buckling of struts,
— Lot 8 — 10 x Plastic bending of portals,
— Lot 9 — 10 x Asymmetric bending.
