Description of the goods or services required

The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) division of NHS National National Services Scotland (NSS) on behalf of the Joint UKBTS / HPA Professional Advisory Committee (JPAC) requires the services of a supplier to develop the JPAC website.

In 2002 JPAC launched the UK Blood Transfusion & Tissue Transplantation Service website (http://www.transfusionguidelines.org.uk/). The purpose of the site was to host the ‘Guidelines for the Blood Transfusion Services in the United Kingdom’ (Red Book) and the ‘Handbook of Transfusion Medicine’. Since then the site has grown to include many other sections including the ‘Donor Selection Guidelines’ and is used at all Donor Sessions.

The site is used by clinicians, scientists and other healthcare professionals across the UK and abroad both from Blood Services and hospitals. It currently hosts Guidelines for Blood Transfusion Services, Clinical Transfusion guidelines, Donor Selection Guidelines, and other transfusion related areas.

JPAC wish to modernise and enhance the current website, as such have produced a requirements specification detailing the requirements of the new website. The functional aspects of the specification form the essence of this Request for Tender, as the finished website will be hosted and supported in-house.
