Description of the contract

Provision of services to the community. Pre-school education services. The Council’s Children’s Services department has a requirement for the provision of a lead agency role for the Oughton and Villages Children’s Centre throughout the period of the Agreement. The Lead Agency will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of the children’s centre core purpose. The core purpose of a children’s centre is improving outcomes for young children and their families, with a particular focus on the most disadvantaged families in order to reduce inequalities in • Child development and school readiness Supported by improved • Parenting aspirations, self esteem and parenting skills • Child and family health and life chances The Lead Agency will be expected to: 1. provide innovative approaches to community based local services for children aged 0-5 years and their parents 2. provide integrated support to children and families using targeted evidence based interventions for those in greatest need 3. involve local families in determining how services are delivered 4. develop effective partnerships with other agencies, from a variety of sectors, to ensure the whole package of support and activities are available The Council is looking for agencies with a strong track record of partnership working and delivering good quality child focused services. Lead Agencies can come from the statutory sector, including schools, health and district & borough councils; or from the private, voluntary and community sectors. The funding for the financial period 1st January 2013 to 31st March 2013 will be £52,116.75. There is a commitment by Members of Hertfordshire County Council to extend all Children’s Centre contracts to 31st March 2014; details of that funding will be made available in January 2013.
