The First Light project is a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) supported initiative that aims to conserve and restore the heritage at the Jodrell Bank site and create a spectacular new visitor space to display the history of Radio Astronomy. This project will be part of a wider investment and development at Jodrell Bank, part of the Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics at the University of Manchester.
The University has adopted a strategy to procure the full Consultancy services required for this project at this time, with the key initial driver being to move forward and meet the time scale deadline date for the submission of a ‘HLF Round 2’ Bid.
Currently the University is undertaking separate procurements for the Project and Cost Manager roles, respectively. The aim and requirement of this procurement is to procure and appoint all the remaining Consultant Services required for this project under a Lead Consultant Architect appointment as a single commission and contract with the Lead Consultant Architect.
The contract is estimated to start — 29.7.2016;
The contract is estimated to finish — 25.1.2021.

The University intends to invite between 5-8 candidates to participate in the ITN on the basis of the ranking of candidates at PQQ stage at which the criteria referred to in Regulation 65 of the Public Contract Regulations 2015, as amended will be assessed and marked.
In the event that candidates’ scores are tied resulting in the maximum number to be shortlisted (8) being exceeded, a tiebreaker exercise will be conducted by the University. Those candidates who are tied will be separated by their scores received in the following (in order of precedence).
