Description

Nottingham City Council is looking to procure a number of beds from one or two providers to supply overnight respite provision for people with learning disabilities and their families. Provision will be for individuals with learning disability and/or autism who have behaviour that challenges.

The respite service will provide care for a limited duration in an environment which meets Residential Care Home standards with the aim of providing a break for the individual and their families/ carers from their caring responsibilities. Then number of respite nights will be determined by a social care assessment and the booking of ongoing respite provision will be undertaken between the family and provider.

The contract will guarantee the funding for the delivery of either two blocks of 550 respite nights or one block of 1100 depending on the capacity of the service, but is likely to require additional respite above this total. If additional respite is required, the Council reserves the right to commission additional respite nights based at the same overnight rate if the service has sufficient capacity.

The respite provision is to be provided under one of the following circumstances:

Option 1: 1 x Organisation providing 1,100 bed nights on one site.
Option 2: 1 x Organisation providing 1,100 bed nights over two sites.
Option 3: 2 x Organisations providing 550 bed nights each over two sites.

The service will not be a nurse led service and will predominantly meet the social care needs of the service users, but will be responsible for providing or organising appropriate medical support, as required.

It is proposed that the service is commissioned for three years with the option to extend for a further three years subject to the availability of funding and satisfactory performance.
