Description of the contract

Surrey County Council is seeking to commission a suitably qualified provider to deliver a combined Local Healthwatch and NHS Complaints Advocacy Service in Surrey. The Local Healthwatch and NHS Complaints Advocacy service for Surrey will: 1) Be the independent consumer champion for patients, all those using health and social care services and carers, as well as the wider public, ensuring that the views and feedback from patients, service users and carers are an integral part of local commissioning across health and social care. 2) Ensure that independent advocacy skills are used to provide practical support and direction to clients, in order to assist them in finding a resolution to their complaint about health services. The Local Healthwatch and NHS Complaints Advocacy Service will be fully compliant with Local Authority Social Services and National Health Service Complaints (England) regulations 2009 and relevant regulations of the Health and Social Care Act 2012. The provider will be required to work closely with Health and Wellbeing Boards, Clinical Commissioning Groups and Local Authority scrutiny groups.
