The migration will be completed in a phased approach, with the bulk of the university’s telephony service moving to Microsoft Lync by Jan 2016. Any remaining sites that are remaining on the legacy platform in Jan 2016 will be migrated to Microsoft Lync by the end of Q1 2016.
NB as part of an overall programme there are separate tenders that are currently underway which will:
— Migrate the University’s PSTN connectivity from pure ISDN30 to what will primarily be PSTN connectivity delivered over SIP Trunks across the Janet Network;
— Implement a Call Management platform which will be Lync compatible.
The overall estimated spend for the programme is approx. 2 800 000 GBP. The contract award for this project will be for 3 years and will include an option to extend for up to a further 2 years.
Solution providers are required to:
— Assist with the design, implementation and associated migration activity to deliver a fully resilient and robust Microsoft Lync telephony infrastructure integrated with Office365, that will enable the University to fully leverage the benefits of Unified Communications.
— Have a proven track record of handling similar migrations, preferably within the HE Sector.
— Adhere to a commitment to deliver to a very aggressive timescale — target completion for the bulk of the telephony migration is end Dec 2015 – with full migration being targeted for completion end Q1 2016.
