Manchester Metropolitan University is looking to appoint a contractor to manage and deliver the construction of a new Mabel Tylecote building through a two stage design and build procurement process with advice from our appointed design teams.
The new build will accommodate the Manchester School of Art and Humanities, Languages and Social Science Faculties and provide a new home for our Special Collections currently held within our All Saints Building.
The proposed accommodation will include the following across an approx. GIA of 8 443 m²:
— Theatre including Theatre Control Room.
— Acting, Voice and Movement Studios.
— Scenery Workshop.
— Catering Facilities.
— Gallery/Social and Display Spaces.
— Tutorial Spaces.
— Rehearsal Rooms.
— Social Study Areas.
— Seminar and Classroom Spaces.
— Staff Accommodation (various academic and support departments).
— Languages Laboratories.
— Special Collections.
— Reading Rooms.
— Multi Media Spaces.
The new build will incorporate the retained historic portico façade to Cavendish Street and have some connectivity into the existing adjoining buildings, which will incorporate some refurbishment works.
