To assist in achieving their statutory nature conservation remit, Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) and JNCC Support Co (hereinafter referred to as JNCC or the Joint Nature Conservation Committee) require additional expertise to support delivery of their ongoing marine work programmes. This support includes the acquisition of new data from existing or proposed protected areas, along with maximising the value of existing datasets.
A programme of new survey work will be undertaken alongside routine condition monitoring of existing protected areas ¿primarily Special Areas of Conservation — SACs; Sites of Special Scientific Interest — SSSIs; Nature Conservation MPAs — NC MPAs; and Marine Conservation Zones — MCZs¿. SNH and JNCC wish to have a Procurement Framework in place to facilitate the delivery of the full range of marine survey, analysis and interpretation initiatives under a series of discrete ‘lots’ or work packages.

SNH and JNCC require support to help formulate nature conservation advice especially, but not exclusively, pertaining to protected species and habitats, together with the development and monitoring of marine protected areas. Our interests encompass a wide range of habitats and species (from marine mammals to invertebrates and flowering plants) in UK coastal waters to the deep offshore and we are keen to identify potential contractors to cover this spectrum of interests.

1)Short description
SNH and JNCC seek interested parties for the statistical analysis of data acquired from marine biological data gathering surveys, which can include commissioned surveys or data acquired from third parties. The statistical analysis of one or more of these datasets would contribute towards the reporting of the data available from within a given area and could be used as part of advice packages to government or in the planning of forthcoming surveys.
